StreetSide in the Fall 2014 Parade of Homes

Designers have fashion week, we have the Parade of Homes.

Considering the MIX is the fourth collection of condominiums built by StreetSide in Bridgwater Forest, you would think there wouldn’t be much to say about it. The result is that useable, functional storage ends up being just as lacking as if we didn’t have that space in the first place. So what is the solution? Store smarter, not more. Whether you’ve got a full basement (like at our Homes by StreetSide), an attached garage with a utility room (like our Bluestem condos), or the use of a storage locker (like our District and Bridgwater condos), these space-saving storage solutions can help you control the clutter and make the most out of your living space.

Looking for other great ways to maximize your space and store smart? Our StreetSide team came together and brainstormed our top 4 tips for organizing your space below:

1)      Ditch the junk. We all have it. Those things that we never use/never wear, but can’t seem to let go of. Take a long and hard look at whether you are likely to use it anytime within the next couple years, and if the answer is no, sell it on Kijiji, donate or recycle it. This will help you properly organize the things you truly use and love – and maybe you’ll even make a little cash to go towards new storage solutions!

2)      Give everything a home. The key to keeping things neat and properly stored is to give them a place of their own. When something is finished being used, it needs to have a spot waiting for it to go back to – or else things will quickly get out of control.

3)      Use bins and labels. Smaller items are difficult to keep tidy and in one spot because they tend to move around and fall out place. Corral similar items in bins and use labels to specify their contents for easy retrieval the next time you need to use them.

4)      Use your space in creative ways. If you are having difficulties thinking outside of the box, head over to Pinterest to peruse the endless inspiration photos of creative storage. With a little ingenuity and elbow grease you can multiply the storage efficiency of a space many times over!
